Object

In the current engineering job market, ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) are widely used, making it difficult to differentiate myself from other candidates through a resume alone. Additionally, it's challenging to fully showcase my experience within the constraints of a resume.

However, including a portfolio URL in my resume is not an issue, so my goal is to direct HR to my portfolio site, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of my experience and skills.

Persona

・The target persona is Nadia, a 40-year-old female HR Manager looking to fill a Frontend Developer position.

・Sometimes she review resumes on her smartphone or tablet,

Key

・Designed a simple and user-friendly UI with a consistent rounded border style for a cohesive look. Used the Manrope font to create a soft and approachable impression.

・Applied a monochrome color scheme to ensure readability for all users.

・Just like Nadia, developers visiting the portfolio via LinkedIn are also likely to check it on mobile. I paid extra attention to responsiveness, carefully adjusting Grid column counts, font sizes, and image sizes to ensure an optimal experience across devices.

・The ultimate goal is to encourage Nadia to send an email inquiry through the portfolio site.

Result

✅ One of recruiters I was connecting invited me to an technical interview via email.

Take Aways

・After gathering feedback from various people on my previous portfolio, I noticed that many criticized the mobile design experience. This time, I focused on improving the mobile design, and I was able to receive positive feedback, which was a great outcome.

・I learned the importance of defining a clear persona and aligning the CTA (Call to Action) with that persona’s needs and behavior to create a more effective user journey.

Challenge

・While using a CMS on Framer was not a significant problem, customizing each detail page made it difficult to apply updates consistently across all pages.
